Early Moments Matter for children’s brain development- UNICEF

250 million children in developing countries are at risk of poor development due to stunting and poverty UNICEF  launched #EarlyMomentsMatter, a new campaign supported by the LEGO Foundation to drive increased awareness about the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life and the impact of early experiences on the developing brain. During this critical window of opportunity, brain cells can make up to 1,000 new connections every second – a once-in-a-lifetime speed. These connections contribute to children’s brain function and learning, and lay the foundation for their future health and happiness. A lack of nurturing care – which includes adequate nutrition, stimulation, love and protection from stress and violence – can impede the development of these critical connections.  The campaign kicks off with #EatPlayLove – a digital and print initiative aimed at parents and caregivers that shares the neuroscience on how babies’ brains develop. #EatPlayLove ass...

Franco-African Investment Fund Supports African SMEs with 77 Million Euros

United Capital Plc, a leading African investment banking group, has partnered with global financial and corporate institutions to set up a Franco-African Investment Fund (FFA),  with investible funds of   77 million euro. The aim  of the fund is to accelerate the growth  of innovative and entrepreneurial African and French small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) with development projects on both continents. It is the first cross border investment fund dedicated to the development of African and French SMEs,   and w ill  have a lifespan of 10 years . The agreement to set up the fund was signed in Bamako, Mali  on Saturday  at the sideline of the Franco African Summit which was witnessed by the  Malian President  Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, French President Francois Hollande amongst other global leaders in the private and public sectors. UBA Strong Delegation Takes Part in World Economic Forum In Davos

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) is be strongly represented at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), taking place in Davos, Switzerland. UBA CEO Kennedy Uzoka led a  senior executive team, at one of the most important events on the global economic calendar. However, there is so much happening in Cameroon today that such a statement now produces more questions than answers. Are we talking about a territory or a people?  As a Territory?  Cameroon as a country, or parts thereof, has been known as: KAMERUN, SOUTHERN and NORTHERN CAMEROONS, “LA REPUBLIC DU CAMEROUN”, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON, WEST CAMEROON, EAST CAMEROON, THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON and the second “LA REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN”.
