UNICEF Partners With CAF To Promote Children’s Rights At AFCON2016

The 2016 Women’s African Cup of Nations, Cameroon-AFCON 2016 will serve as a platform for the promotion of children’s rights. This is thanks to a partnership agreement signed recently between the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF and the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

The partnership presented to press at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex on September 17, will enable both organisations to launch a joint campaign for the respect of children's rights in Cameroon and to send out messages during CAN events.
It will also involve players in fostering advocacy for children and facilitate the launching of fundraising activities for United Nations’ children’s rights and relief organisation in the country.

Besides the AFCON 2016, UNICEF also partners with major sports events to promote children’s rights through sport and its values. The organisation has developed partnerships with major football teams as FC Barcelona and Manchester United

In the meantime, football fans are looking forward for an opening match between the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon and the Pharaohs of Egypt on November 19 following the draws which took place at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex on September 18.
